Panama might still be in its infant stages of tourism, but for some of us, that is perfect! We still get many of the best places all to our selves.

There are some people who enjoy paddling famous places and the Panama Canal is one of those places. There are a number of options from the mouth of the Chagres River to Gatun Lake or the sunset paddle from the Bridge of the Americas in Panama City towards the bay, technically IN the canal!

There are also 2000 islands and the San Blas Islands are at the top of that list. Here you need special permission to enter this indigenous territory and kayak and camp and tours range from 4 – 8 days and are limited to about 6 month a year.

On the Pacific, you would be surprised at how calm some of the places are for kayaking. We take people to Coiba because it is the most amazing place, known as the poor man’s Galapagos, it won’t let you down. The overnight trip in the bay of Chiriqui is also one of the top kayak tours in Panama.

In Portobelo, we can take an easy paddle on a ‘sit on top’ kayak and in 15 minutes, reach a nice little beach and pass the time snorkeling or use those same kayaks to float down a lazy river through the jungle.

Bocas del Toro is also on the Caribbean and you can paddle from small boutique hotels to beaches and even the main island/town to pick up tonight’s wine.
