Tour Description

Head to the hills! Visit the Famous Market!

Leave early for a 2+ hour drive to Panama’s famous valley located in the crater of an extinct volcano, El Valle de Anton, once home to the legendary Golden Frog.

It is the second largest inhabited volcano crater in the world, surrounded by mountains and cloud forest creating its own microclimate. El Valle is a must see on your trip to Panama.

Short walks bring you to pre-columbian indigenous petroglyphs (images created by carving part of a rock surface) and waterfalls. The Golden Frog exhibit is worth a look and a project we support! With enough time, you can wander off on a short trail to the 'square tree' as well. We will visit a butterfly garden and, of course, Panama's most famous artisan market! Around 2pm, after lunch (not included*), we depart from El Valle to avoid traffic getting back into the city. *A zip-line adventure option is possible in El Valle as well (additional cost of $65 pp) but you won't have time to do some of the other things on the list.. Sunday is the day of the week in all the guide books, aka the busiest day of the week and you have to deal with traffic getting back to the city, so prepare to go EARLY so you dont sit in hours of traffic! The market is always there, 7 days/week!

*THE INDIA DORMIDA HIKE for well experienced hikers and fit adventurous travelers ONLY! A guided hike on this well known trail is an option. Enjoy breathtaking views of the valley from above

3,000ft., waterfalls and petroglyphs but this is the main focus of this version of a tour to El Valle. We will have time for lunch and the markets before heading back to the city. 7k, 3-4 hours, 250m elevation gain.

*Like most of our tours, we make a stop for lunch at local restaurants where travelers can buy their own lunch.
