1 Week Panama Tour Itinerary

Saturday: On this adventure you will see the highlights of Panama all in one wonderful week!   You’ll hike virgin forests in Panama’s mountains and national parks; all while being amazed by the abundant wildlife.  Soak up the sun on Panama’s Pacific and Atlantic coast beaches and islands.

Arrive at Tocuman International Airport (PTY) and taxi to your hotel in Panama City to prepare for the upcoming adventure.

Day 1: Panama City Tour

Sunday: We have a full day to explore this fantastic city! Starting with an incredible view from atop Cerro Ancon before we head to Miraflores Locks and museum on the canal. We follow the Panama Canal to Punta Culebra (owned by the Smithsonian) where we might see sloths, iguanas and some of Panama’s marine life, all while learning about the history of Panama, the canal, and the ships passing through. Have lunch on the Amador Causeway with fantastic views of the city skyline before a final stop in old town (Casco Viejo) for a tour that will take you back in time. Enjoy your 2nd night in the city.

Day 2: Portobelo Adventure

Monday: Snorkel in the Caribbean and Zip line in the jungle.  Discovered by Columbus, attacked by pirates and gateway to 1/3rd of the world’s gold, Portobelo is another UNESCO world heritage site that has to be seen! (Hotel in Panama City) Click HERE to see a detailed itinerary.

Day 3: Monkey Island, Indian Village & Lake Gatun EcoTour

Tuesday: Visit the monkeys and the Indians and head to the hills! Soberania is full of wildlife and is a wonderful place to watch for monkeys, sloths, the Harpy Eagle and hundreds of bird species. (Hotel in El Valle)

Day 4: El Valle-Santa Catalina

Wednesday: After a welcome night in El Valle, we will have all morning to explore. Take a hike, go for a horse or  bike ride, visit the market and waterfalls or just relax! After lunch we will head to Santa Catalina.

Day 5: Santa Catalina/Coiba

Thursday: While staying in Santa Catalina you will have the option to visit Coiba. Otherwise known as the poor man’s Galapagos, Coiba is one of those hard to reach places that is worth the effort of getting there! You have the options of snorkeling or diving if you visit the UNESCO world heritage site. You might just see a whale shark! Other options are kayaking, fishing, surfing and relaxing on one of the world’s best surf beaches (2nd night in Santa Catalina)

Day 6: Boquete

Friday: We will head out in the morning and drive to Boquete. Boquete is nestled into the mountains and is the adventure capital of Panama. On the way we can stop in Caldera to visit the hot springs and soak in the therapeutic waters.  (Hotel in Boquete)

Day 7: Boquete

Saturday: A free day with a variety of options to choose from. You will be able to take a tour of a coffee plantation, zip lining canopy tours, hiking to the continental divide or maybe a trip to the volcano.  There’s also rafting, kayaking, horseback riding and rock climbing Click HERE for more details.

Depart for Panama City that night or the next morning and catch your flight home.

Have an extra day or two?  Stay in Boquete or add an option below and extend your time in paradise!  Maybe add both.  You deserve it!

Add on 1 – Before joining the rest of the group, arrive a day early and check out San Blass.  This is an area of the Caribbean Coast which boasts 365-400 islands (depending on who you ask).  It is home to the Kuna Indians, this trip is unlike any other. It gives you the chance to mingle with the Kuna on their coconut-covered islands, enjoy the beaches, learn about Kuna culture, and more.

Add on 2 – Want more beach time?  Head to Bocas Del Toro where you’ll experience a Caribbean vibe and pristine beaches.  Maybe you’re up for a sailing trip throughout the islands, snorkeling among coral reefs, surfing, or a pick of many other daytrip destinations.  Party the night away at the best nightlife spot outside Panama City (featured on Discovery Channel's Wild on Panama).
