Tour Description
We pick you up at your hotel between 7am and 8am, depending on the location or meet you at the meeting point in the old town.
We start this amazing day by taking you back in time as we walk the streets of this world heritage site, Casco Antiguo. Learn all about the dynamic history of Panama, marvel at the spectacular architecture, hear tales about the pirates & gold, explore the many plazas and see some of Panama's famous crafts made by the indigenous people. You might even have time to start the tour with a coffee, something Panama is well known for!
From here, we venture out to the islands along the Amador Causeway for the best view of Panama’s skyline and a stop at the colorful PANAMA sign. Somedays, we do a tour of the Smithsonian Tropical Research Institute’s Punta Culebra Nature Center (closed weekdays). It is a very important location, historically. If the site is closed, we can still see it from the outside looking in, explain the history and have a look for sloth!
Depending on time/traffic, we might be able to get across the Bridge of the Americas for a viewpoint, we will stop for a photo of the Panama Canal Authority headquarters at the base of Cerro Ancon (the road up the hill closed in 2016) and pass through historic neighborhoods pointing out their significance and explaining all about The Panama Canal on our way to lunch in Clayton (an old American Army Base)
*lunch is not included
Next stop THE Panama Canal!
The entrance fee for the IMAX film is now forced upon us, so we will get there in time to see a show. The Miraflores Locks Visitor Center viewing platforms are open. Once inside of the visitor center, enjoy the watching the ships transit these famous Miraflores Locks.
*the museum remains closed due to construction.
Around 3pm, we will head back to your hotel
